Hey all, Mary here, the dreamer of Prairie and Wild. I am all about finding new places to explore and scheming up the next road trip. As a photographer it is so important to me to capture the real 'you' as a couple. I have a hands off approach when it comes to posing that allows me to photograph the both of you in your element, as candid as possible. The most important thing to me is for you to enjoy every step of your engagement and wedding experience.

Imagery is the only tangible thing you will keep and enjoy long after your session, so it should stand the test of time.
My style is honest, nostalgic, and cinematic. I am inspired by individuality and celebrating that. I seek to document honest imagery of all your quirks, your personality, and the deep stuff. In every session, my focus is on the in-betweens, the movement, and how it felt.

This session is for the families who want to remember the way it truly felt—tiny hands reaching for yours, the soft chaos of togetherness, the laughter that bubbles up when no one’s watching.
From the very beginning, we’ll collaborate on an inspiration board to gently shape the vision, and I’ll offer a complimentary styling consult to help everyone feel at ease and themselves.
When we meet at our chosen location, the session will unfold naturally, led by your children and the energy of the moment. I don’t ask for stiff smiles or perfect poses—because I believe the magic lives in the unposed, in the in-between. We’ll spend an hour simply being—playing, exploring, connecting—while I quietly capture the spirit of your family through a blend of medium format, digital, and 35mm film.

Two sessions, one beautiful story. This bundle is designed to honor the quiet transformation of motherhood—the anticipation, the arrival, and everything in between. It’s for the parents who want to remember how it felt to carry life and then to hold it close.
We’ll begin with a maternity session, either in the comfort of your home or in a softly lit studio, where you can settle in and simply be. Wrapped in light and love, you’ll have access to the client closet for styling that helps you feel radiant and at ease.
For your newborn session, you have the option to choose between a more traditional approach—with gently posed portraits—or a relaxed lifestyle session that focuses on natural connection and the everyday magic of those early days. However you choose to remember this time, the experience will be calm, baby-led, and filled with intention. I also provide a curated selection of swaddles and outfits for your little one, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Both sessions include at least 50 high-resolution and web-ready digital images, each one artfully and thoughtfully edited. Full printing rights are always included—these moments are yours to keep and revisit for a lifetime.

For the best photos, I recommend neutral colors, avoiding distracting patterns, and adding textures for dimension. The best advice I can give is to wear what makes you feel beautiful and the most like you.
Maternity is best when you are 28-32 weeks pregnant.
I always suggest doing newborn photos within the first 16 days. I always have my clients let me know within 72 hours of baby's arrival and we will schedule for the following week.
I know an hour is a long time for toddlers because I have two. But please understand that the sessions are fun, light, active, and full of games. I used to be an elementary teacher and genuinely love involving the kids as much as possible in the session. I promise you that your favorite photos will be the ones that are taken near the end of the session. It takes time to gain trust, develop rapport, and for everyone to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Toward the end of the session, everyone lets go of their inhibitions and are truly present in the moment. That is where the in-between moments become everything.
